My Arbor Luxury Wellness Hotel in South Tyrol: Photos From One of My Favorite Spa Getaways in the Italian Alps

If you’re like me and find yourself drawn to the allure of luxury spa hotels, mountain retreats with relaxing soft touch massages, and the good saunas where you can be completely naked with others, then My Arbor in South Tyrol might just be your perfect escape.

Located on the slopes of Mount Plose, this unique retreat blends all my favorite things: amazing supergreen alpine views, world-class spa modern facilities, and the calming silence that only a mountain setting can offer.

It is not easy to get there, but doable — from a flight to Munich, a scenic train ride to Innsbruck and then Brixen, followed by a short car ride — the destination is worth every step. In this article, I’ll share why My Arbor has become my go-to sanctuary in Europe and why it should be on your radar if you’re seeking a luxury spa in nature.

What is My Arbor – Plose Wellness Hotel?

My Arbor – Plose Wellness Hotel, inaugurated in 2018, is an adults-only sanctuary perched at 960 meters above sea level in South Tyrol, Italy. The hotel offers 104 south-facing suites, each designed to provide a treehouse-like experience with panoramic views of the Dolomites. Room rates vary by season and suite type, typically ranging from €350 to €600 per night.

The hotel’s 2,500 m² Spa Arboris features five saunas, including a biosauna, wood sauna, dry sauna, forest sauna, and steam bath. You can also enjoy indoor and outdoor pools, relaxation areas, and a variety of treatments using local products.

Nestled on the slopes of Mount Plose, My Arbor provides direct access to hiking trails and ski slopes, making it an ideal destination for both relaxation and adventure. The surrounding forest and mountain scenery offer a serene backdrop for activities like yoga, hiking, and skiing. No worries, they also have a bar in the beautiful lobby, here you can get a nice glass of locally produced wine or a beer.

5 Reasons Why You Should My Arbor if You Like Mountain Spa Retreats – My Review

For me, My Arbor hits all the right notes for the perfect mountain escape. Here’s why:

Location: Forests, Mountains, and Fresh Air

The location is second to none. Imagine being surrounded by lush forests and majestic mountains—talk about a real oxygen boost. You can walk along trails that wind through quaint farmhouses, breathe in the fresh pine-scented air, drink straight from mountain springs, and wash your face with that ice-cold, refreshing water. The silence of nature alone is worth the trip.

Modern, Cozy Rooms and Great Amenities

The hotel itself is exactly what I look for. It’s modern, with clean, wooden rooms that feel warm and inviting. There are three types of suites: the Nest Suite, the Hangout Suite (my go-to, starting at $300 and with its own private garden terrace so it feels like a personal summer house), and the Treetop Suite, which is huge at 100 m² but doesn’t have a terrace.

Facilities are on point too—there’s a beautiful pool, a spa offering simple but effective treatments like head massages, and a fitness room that has my favorite cross-trainer machine.

The Saunas: Panoramic Views and Sauna Gus Rituals

But the best part? The saunas. My Arbor has several, each with panoramic windows offering breathtaking mountain views. They’re spacious, warm, and come with daily herbal “gus” sessions. Picture this: staff waving towels to spread herbal-infused steam while soft rock music plays, all lasting about 10 minutes.

Afterward, you take a dip in the cold plunge pool, snack on fresh fruit, and just lie on the grass looking up at the clear mountain sky. There are even private bungalows where you can stretch out in silence and watch the clouds drift by.

There is also a restaurant, which is the only dining option available while staying here. The breakfast is good, offering vegetables, eggs, salmon, nuts, and cheese, among other items. However, the dinner is average, with limited fish options and mostly meat-based dishes. You can choose an all-day menu or go à la carte with access to the salad bar. Be aware that if you visit the salad bar more than once during dinner, you will be charged for each visit.

Affordable Luxury: Dolomites Spa Retreat from $500 a Night

Another big plus is the pricing. For a luxury spa hotel, My Arbor is surprisingly affordable compared to others in the area. While places like Forestis can set you back over $1,000 a night (and yes, they are higher up the mountain), My Arbor offers weekend packages starting around $700. It’s hands down one of the top spa hotels in the Italian Alps and Dolomites.

Great Alternatives in the Region

If you’re exploring other luxury spa hotels in the area, I’ve also tried Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti, which boasts incredible views and an elegant, slightly outdated setting perfect for a mountain spa retreat – it is not an adult-only place, though. However, I wasn’t too happy with their no-naked-saunas rule and aggressive guests who are all covered from tip to toe.

Klosterhof – Alpine Hideaway & Spa is worth checking out for a different take on wellness in the Dolomites. This Alpine luxury hotel offers a modern vibe with an open infinity pool and excellent sauna facilities. Just keep in mind that it features more rolling hills rather than dramatic mountain peaks, so the landscape is slightly different from the Italian Alps retreats like My Arbor.
