The Best Spa Resorts for Adults

Luxury, Peace & No Kids: The Best Spa Resorts for Adults Only Around the World

Children are wonderful—just not when you’re trying to escape from chaos, unplug, and actually hear yourself think (worth a try).

I love resorts and retreats for an escape without noise, fewer crowds, and of course, screaming children from the neighbours at breakfast, dinner or during the day when you’re trying to relax at your villa. Even the best hotels with amazing spas like Dubai’s Dar Al Masyaf or Mauritius’ Shanti Resort can feel like a children’s playground during peak seasons. These properties are beautifully designed, but many are family-focused, especially catering to Middle Eastern families in summer.

And honestly? That ruins it for me.

Wellness event in Six Senses Crans-Montana
Adults meditating in the serene setting of the Alma Festival, a unique wellness event in the heart of the Swiss Alps at Six Senses Crans-Montana.

If I’m spending thousands of euros or dollars for a peaceful holiday, I want actual peace. As someone single with no kids, I’ve gone out of my way to find the best adult-only luxury spa resorts in my favourite destinations—those with sea, nature, and serenity. By the way, off topic – in my opinion, business class and first class should be reserved for passengers over 12. Otherwise, save your money and fly economy—because nothing kills luxury faster than a toddler’s tantrum at 35,000 feet.

So, here is my list of the top-rated hotels and spa resorts for adults, no kids.

If you’re looking for a Swiss escape where wellness isn’t just a treatment but a philosophy, Six Senses Crans-Montana delivers it all—without the noise. Located slope-side in the Alps with ski-in/ski-out access to the Chetzeron red piste, the resort offers 78 accommodations that feel like staying in an elevated alpine dream. The Terrace Rooms and Superior Terrace Rooms range from 495 to 538 sq. ft. and are designed with soothing oak, slate, and stone. They feature king-size beds, elegant sitting areas, oversized windows, and private terraces that face the alpine forest. Deluxe Terrace Rooms add a touch more space and are ideal for longer stays.

For those wanting more room to unwind, the Corner and Terrace Suites—each between 764 and 936 sq. ft.—offer extra lounge areas, a king bedroom, and even a private sauna. The Three-Bedroom Terrace Suite (1,615 sq. ft.) and the pinnacle 2,594 sq. ft. Three-Bedroom Prestige Apartment both feature open living-dining spaces and expansive terraces with south and west-facing views. The Four-Bedroom Chalet (2,303 sq. ft.) is a private mountain hideaway, perfect for groups or families of up to eight, with each bedroom having an ensuite, plus generous communal space and terrace access.

All rooms come with bespoke solid wood furniture, handcrafted textiles, and the Sleep With Six Senses program: temperature-regulating beds, organic mattresses, moisture-wicking linens, and blackout features to ensure peak-quality rest.

The 2,000-square-meter spa is a wellness destination of its own. It includes 10 treatment rooms, a serene lounge, beauty salon, rooftop heated pool, and both indoor and outdoor pools with massage jets. You’ll find a complete hydrothermal circuit featuring Finnish, infrared, bio-salt, and rock saunas, as well as a cold plunge pool and an ice fountain. Speak with in-house wellness specialists and biohackers like Yoga Practitioner Lauren Battaglia or Resident Biohacker Bali Csanak to personalize your journey.

The Sleep Upgrade program, for example, combines biometric sleep tracking with coaching, wellness therapies, and specialized bedding.

Signature treatments include the Swiss Chocolate Wrap using glacier salt, and the Journey to Restore—a floatation and massage ritual using warm grape seed pillows. The Biohack Recovery Lounge features NormaTec boots, Hyperice X, and Venom tech for quick recovery, while the interactive Alchemy Bar invites you to mix your own skincare. There are also seasonal programs for detox, yoga, female wellness, longevity, and even one designed for your pet.

Dining includes Wild Cabin, a contemporary alpine restaurant with panoramic views and local ingredients, and Byakko, which offers refined Japanese cuisine. You can spend the evening stargazing at the open-air cinema or chatting fireside in the stylish bar. With a 24/7 GEM (Guest Experience Maker) service, electric Audi transfers, and luxury ski concierge, this is Swiss sophistication with soul.

Eriro, Austria (Zugspitze)

Address: Ehrwalder Alm 4, 6632 Ehrwald, Austria
Reservations Email: hide@eriro.at
Phone: +43 5673 40506

Eriro, Austria

Become one with nature, with silence, and with yourself. Eriro is more than a hotel—it’s the smallest luxury Alpine hideaway in Austria, perched at 1,550 meters in the Tyrolean Alps and intentionally limited to just nine suites. Designed without TVs and plastic, the entire concept is grounded in mindful simplicity, elemental luxury, and a deep respect for nature.

The five south-west facing Boum Suites (approx. 527 sq ft) look out across dense alpine forest and feature king-size beds, a cozy nook for dining or playing board games, bathrooms with rain showers and bathtubs, and a 161 sq ft balcony with a star-gazing daybed. Suites also include a minibar, tea and coffee station, wool socks, record player with wireless speaker, and a “nature cinema”—meaning, there’s no screen to distract you from the view outside your window.

Rates start from €775 per person per night, all-inclusive. And all-inclusive here really means it: all meals and drinks (except premium spirits), cable car lift tickets or ski passes depending on season, guided mountain tours, spa access, snowshoes and hiking gear, and even transport. The in-house spa, inspired by local herbalism and ancient Alpine wisdom, includes a trio of tranquil pools (Sela, Taja, Sunna), Finnish and spruce saunas (Fiuhta, Steinaz), a rock shower path, a barefoot stone corridor, and multiple quiet rooms like Roa and Hewi for meditation and sound healing. Treatments are offered in the Lebenti Room, a vaulted rooftop space for massage and post-hike recovery under the rafters.

The culinary philosophy mirrors the rugged landscape—dishes at Eriro’s open-kitchen restaurant are cooked over a traditional Alpine fuir (fire), using regional ingredients and presented on stone, wood, or grain. Menus change with the weather and seasons, and every meal feels like part of the mountain experience—raw, refined, and rooted in origin.

In the remote corners of the Tyrolean Alps, we become one with nature. A humbleness toward the magnificent mountains shapes every aspect of life at Eriro. The seasonal rhythm governs the days—gracious and gentle, archaic and rugged. Here, the mountain calls us to be alert and aware with all our senses. Memories are shaped by traditions and tactile experiences: collecting water directly from the mountain spring, walking barefoot on stone and forest paths, preparing wood for winter, and sharing quiet rituals by the fire.

For anyone seeking total sensory reset in quiet nature, with no children, no phones, no noise—just mountains, ritual, and stillness—Eriro is unmatched. Every part of the spa experience is connected to nature’s cycles and healing energy. Inspired by the practices of Tyrolean herbalists, the concept of Ochi Kema encourages guests to return to their inner balance. The scent of herbs and hay in summer, the rich earthiness of autumn, and the revitalizing shock of glacial water are all part of the sensory journey.

The pools—Sela, Taja, and Sunna—are each designed with a purpose, whether for deep calm or flow-state restoration. Saunas like Fiuhta and Steinaz mirror the rhythm of the forest, offering warmth after snowy hikes. Just steps away, an outdoor rock shower and stone-lined water path lead guests into further immersion. The entire spa is built into the slope, with uneven flooring of tiny stones encouraging barefoot reconnection to Earth. Sound and silence are carefully curated in rooms like Roa and Hewi, and massages in the rooftop Lebenti suite are followed by open-air views of the Wetterstein massif. At Eriro, silence isn’t just the absence of noise—it’s an active, healing presence that fills the body and mind.

The Retreat at Blue Lagoon, Iceland

Address: Norðurljósavegur 11, 240 Grindavík, Iceland
Reservations Email: contact@bluelagoon.com
Phone: +354 420 8700

Blue Lagoon's volcanic landscape and in-water massages.

Located just 20 minutes from Keflavík Airport and 40 minutes from Reykjavík, The Retreat is Iceland’s most exclusive spa resort. Built into ancient lava fields and surrounded by steaming mineral waters, this five-star sanctuary offers 60 sleek suites with floor-to-ceiling windows, in-room soaking tubs, and private terraces opening into the magical otherworld of Blue Lagoon Iceland. Starting at around USD 1,822 per night, each suite includes complimentary breakfast, daily afternoon pastries, welcome drink, unlimited access to the Retreat Spa, Retreat Lagoon, Blue Lagoon, and group yoga.

The subterranean Retreat Spa stretches across 2,300 square meters of lava-hewn silence. There’s a private Ritual Room offering the iconic Blue Lagoon Ritual—three chambers for silica, algae, and mineral treatments. Eight unique experience zones include steam caves, sauna with lagoon views, fireplace lounge, refresh station, in-water bar, and sound healing Nest chairs. Full-day experiences start from $1,260 per couple and include private changing rooms, towels, robes, skincare amenities, slippers, a welcome drink, and flexible hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is one of the best places for watsu massage. Lava Cove, a hidden sanctuary within the spa, offers even more exclusivity with a private 28 m² lagoon, lounge, fireplace, minibar, fresh fruit, handmade chocolates, and your own Bluetooth sound system.

Dining here is just as impressive. Michelin-starred Moss Restaurant hosts 40 guests with creative multi-course menus using Icelandic ingredients. There’s also the Spa Restaurant for relaxed robe-dining with nourishing cuisine, and the Lava Restaurant nearby, carved into volcanic rock. The suggested itinerary includes a signature in-water massage, BL+ facials, private sound healing, and afternoon Icelandic coffee paired with pastries.

If you’re not staying overnight, day spa access is available from $626. But for the full experience of waking up next to steaming blue waters, a suite stay is highly recommended. The service is smooth, quiet, and truly adult in all the best ways—no kids under 12 allowed.

Start your evening with dishes like charred hispi cabbage with black garlic and truffle, or the burrata with Isle of Wight tomatoes and romesco, both bursting with flavour and beautifully plated. For mains, standout options include the ragu of wild venison with pappardelle, the braised beef featherblade with bone marrow crumb, and the oven-baked cod loin served with artichoke Barigoule and mussels—each crafted with finesse and layered with seasonal ingredients.

This one’s perfect in April or late September when walkers leave and silence returns to the fells.

Komandoo Island Resort & Spa, Maldives

Address: Komandoo Island, Lhaviyani Atoll, Maldives
Reservations Email: reservations@komandoo.com
Phone: +960 662 0902

Komandoo Island Resort

This is a no-kids, no-drama overwater paradise in Lhaviyani Atoll. It is a good, though 4-star hotel with a good rating of 9.5 out of 10 on Tripadvisor and booking.com. In our opinion, it is more designed for honeymoons and not so much for LGBTQ+ persons. Also, I think villas are way too close to each other, so you could hear people talk and other activities, even though the ocean waves should work fine, covering all of that.

Anyway, villas come with hammocks and sea ladders. At the spa, you can try coconut oil massages and sea salt scrubs before dining barefoot at Aqua restaurant over the water. It’s one of the most peaceful adult-only islands in the Maldives. Avoid school holidays and come in May or November for empty beaches.

Entre Cielos, Mendoza, Argentina

Reservations Email: reservations@entrecielos.com
Phone: +54 261 498 3377

Entre Cielos Hotel Mendoza

When wine tourism meets wellness and adult only spa hotel experience in South America. Set within a private vineyard estate, Entre Cielos is a boutique hotel offering a hammam-inspired spa and wine therapy (there is also a complimentary bottle of wine in each room if not enough). Twenty-four luxury rooms (minimum size is 42 square meters) are sleek, but with a bit outdated design in our opinion, but with Andes views.

The restaurant serves local farm-to-table fare with wine pairings from neighbouring vineyards. It’s adults-only in vibe, and best visited in April during the harvest lull. Enjoy Mendoza walking tours as well!
