Capital One Landing is a new concept lounge introduced at Reagan National last year. It is in Terminal 2, right next to Concourse D in the National Hall.  

The lounge is open from 6:00am until 9:00pm, and guests are accepted three hours before takeoff unless you’re transiting, in which case it’s unlimited. As DCA is a busy airport, it can get busy, so reserving your spot is advisable. 

Venture X and Venture X Business cardholders have unlimited free access with one free guest, and an additional $45 is charged for extra guests.  

There are various seating options with power outlets and USB-A/USB-C charging ports, including booths, window tables, and an open-plan restaurant setup in the middle. There are also seats at the bar. 

Capital One partners with the world-renowned José Andrés Group to deliver a first-class dining experience. The focus is on the food; they promote an “elevated” culinary experience with Spanish flavors. You can use a QR code at your table to order or head up to the counter. 

You can choose from cooked-to-order meals or sample pre-prepared tapas. There is also a buffet selection of cheeses, cured meats, jamón, anchovies, vine-ripened tomatoes, and fresh home-baked bread. A highlight is the impressive dessert bar featuring soft serve ice cream with olive oil.

2. Chelsea Lounge | JFK International

Location: New York (JFK) 

Technically, the Chelsea Lounge is a first-class lounge, but certain business passengers are also welcome, so it’s worth listing. It’s located on Concourse B, near gate 14, and is open daily from 4:15am until 11:30pm.  

The Chelsea Lounge is exclusive; business passengers must pay for the Flagship Business Plus upgrade to gain access, and even then, they can’t bring guests in.  

It is a small, cozy lounge. The entrance leads to a circular bar with top-shelf drinks and a rotating champagne menu. You can sit at the bar, or there is a choice of lounge seating, a dining area, and workstations. 

The lounge is muted and quiet, so it’s a great space to catch up with work. It has comfortable seating and designated work areas, including private booths with desks, convenient power outlets, and USB points. The center of the seating area features an enclosed fireplace and a quiet area at the back if you wish to take a nap.  

You can enjoy proper sit-down dining with waiter service and choose from a carefully curated menu, which includes a full three-course meal and matched wines and cocktails. They even offer afternoon tea with cut sandwiches, pastries, and scones with cream and jam, which goes perfectly with champagne. 

The highlight is the regularly updated selection of exquisite champagnes. If you’re unsure what to have, you can try a champagne flight of sample sizes.  

Other amenities include private restrooms and luxurious shower suites fully stocked with toiletries, where you can freshen up before dining or making for your flight.

3. United Polaris Lounge | Newark Liberty

Location: New Jersey (EWR) 

Next on the list is the United Polaris lounge at Newark Liberty. It’s airside between Gate 102 and Gate 120, and open daily from 6:30am to 10:30pm. 

The United Polaris is a huge lounge with high ceilings and a fantastic assortment of seating, including intimate booths with power outlets and USBs. It’s designed exclusively for United Polaris business class and Star Alliance long-haul business and first-class passengers; however, despite being massive, it can get very busy.  

If you need to work, there are small private work booths with power outlets, where you can get some peace, and a convenient luggage storage nearby.  

For refreshments, you can choose from a buffet and drinks bar or head to the separate dining room area, where you can get made-to-order meals. The buffet includes a selection of breakfast foods in the morning, followed by hot dishes and a salad bar for lunch and dinner.  

You can order breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the dining room. It’s à la carte dining with seasonal menus. A sample menu included miso-glazed sea bass, kale and quinoa salad, and rich chocolate mousse for dessert. 

There are on-site restrooms, shower suites, and private nap pods to catch some sleep. Again, as it can get so busy, there are arguably not enough to satisfy the clientele, but it’s still a relaxing experience.

4. The Greenwich Lounge | JFK International

Location: New York (JFK) 

Terminal 8’s Greenwich Lounge is open daily from 4:30am until 11pm and encompasses the Flagship Lounge, Admiral’s Club, and Flagship First Dining space, catering for up to 590 passengers. 

It is a modern and spacious area with plenty of comfortable armchairs, intimate booths, and work pods, plus it offers some fantastic views over the tarmac. While there is no à la carte dining, the buffet delivers an impressive spread, including breakfast items in the morning, a salad bar, and hot meals during the day. It’s high-quality and well-stocked to suit a variety of tastes.  

Aviation Gin cocktails at the Bridge Bar are exemplary. There is also a champagne bar, and all the usual spirits, wines, and beers are available. The Brooklyn Brewery is a social area and a nice touch to the lounge, where you can sample craft beers and flights paired with lighter dishes like beer-braised bratwurst or French onion grilled cheese. 

There are restrooms and showers for freshening up, where you can use the complimentary top-quality toiletries. It’s deemed a major upgrade from the standard Admiral’s Club, and despite getting busy, its innovative design means it never feels overcrowded, even during peak times.

5. The Centurion Lounge | Dallas Fort Worth  

Location: Texas (DFW) 

The Centurion Lounge at DFW is one of the flagship lounges in the American Express Global Lounge collection. It is in Terminal D, just across from Gate D12 and open daily from 5am to 10pm. 

The lounge is available to AmEx Express Platinum, Business Platinum, Centurion cardholders, and Delta SkyMiles Reserve cardholders when traveling with Delta.  

The Centurion Lounge has a contemporary design and is divided into sections to cater to different needs. It features showers with high-end toiletries and a family room for travelers with kids. There are private phone booths, separate luggage storage, power outlets dotted around the seating areas, plus dedicated work pods. 

There is a seasonal menu with Texan flavors inspired by Chef Dean Fearing. It changes regularly with the seasons, but think smoked BBQ brisket, pecan-crusted chicken with jalapeno grits, and breakfast quesadillas. 

You can help yourself to the buffet service, which has a rotating menu throughout the day. There is Barista-style coffee, tea, soft drinks, and a premium bar service offering a fantastic selection of top-quality beverages. 

It can get busy, and as it’s a family-friendly lounge, it can also get noisy, so it might not suit travelers looking for a more relaxing experience.

The Delta Sky Club is located in Terminal 3 of LAX, just past security. It’s open daily from 4:15am until 12:30am and is one of the largest Delta lounges in the country.

7. United Polaris Lounge | Dulles International  

Location: Virginia (IAD) 

The United Polaris Lounge at Dulles International is an elegant and tranquil haven for long-haul business class passengers. It’s located in Terminal C, near Gate C17, and is open from 4:30am until 10:30pm. 

You have a choice of dining options, including an à la carte dining room serving restaurant-quality food. The menu changes regularly, but sample menus feature seared salmon, chicken tagine, and vegetarian ramen.  

For something more casual, an expansive buffet is available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner featuring hot dishes, wraps, cheese, and cold meat platters, a salad bar, and a selection of desserts.  

There is a stylish full-service bar with a marble finish that serves complimentary drinks, wines, beers, and cocktails. Several refreshment stations scattered throughout the lounge provide easy access to non-alcoholic drinks. 

The seating areas are well-organized, with zones for relaxing, dining, or working. There are also private workstations with power outlets and USBs for you to use if you need to get some work done or take private calls.  

The lounge has its own individual restrooms, plus six shower suites with rainfall showers and complimentary toiletries. 8. American Airlines Flagship Lounge | Miami International  

Location: Florida (MIA) 

The American Airlines Flagship Lounge at MIA is on Concourse D, near Gate D30 inside the North Terminal. It’s open daily from 5:00am to 10:30pm and exclusively uses Flagship First and Flagship Business Plus passengers, Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members, and ConciergeKey members.  

The lounge shares an entrance with the Admiral’s Club, but when you get inside, it has a very different feel. Its sleek, modern design features deep armchairs and comfortable worktables with lamps and outlets.  

There are private restrooms, shower suites with rainfall showers, a TV room, and a business center with printer facilities. You’ll also find convenient luggage storage areas. 

The Flagship First Dining Room offers restaurant-style dining with a regularly changing menu featuring culinary delights such as pink salmon ceviche and coconut chicken curry. There is a live cooking station for made-to-order meals, and a full-blown buffet station with hot and cold dishes, salads, snacks, and desserts.  

The bar is well stocked with quality spirits, wines, and beers, plus there are self-serve beverage stations with cool drinks, coffee, tea, juice, and vitamin waters.

9. United Polaris Lounge | Chicago O’Hare  

Location: Illinois (ORD) 

The United Polaris Lounge in Terminal 1 of Chicago O’Hare, on Concourse C, near Gate C18, is a favorite on the list. It’s open daily from 7:15am to 9:00pm and offers an upscale, serene environment with private seating pods, soft lighting, and spa-like amenities. 

The lounge is available for United Polaris business class passengers on long-haul international flights and Star Alliance business and first-class passengers on eligible long-haul routes. 

The seating layout combines armchairs, café tables, and solo pods, including day beds if you wish to sleep. Refreshments are fabulous, and you can choose between table-service à la carte dining and buffet service. The signature Polaris burger is highly popular if you’re sitting down to eat.  

A new addition for 2025 is a speakeasy-style bar serving Chicago-inspired cocktails and Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée Brut. It’s proving quite popular with its laid-back environment and fantastic drinks menu.

10. Emirates Lounge | San Francisco International  

Location: California (SFO) 

The Emirates Lounge at SFO is different from the rest as it is exclusively for Emirates passengers traveling to Dubai. For Emirates First and Business Class passengers and Emirates Skywards Gold members flying in Economy. Day passes can be purchased for upwards of $125, depending on availability.  

Take the stairs (or elevator) to a large seating area, with a separate dining room and more intimate seating areas to the sides, with plenty of power outlets. It’s all about luxury, with Italian marble floors, Rolex clocks, and lush floral arrangements. It even has a water feature. 

The lounge features shower suites and private restrooms, and staff can provide luxury toiletries, including shower packs, shaving kits, and toothbrush kits. We love that you can board your flight directly from the lounge for a real first-class service.  

The bar is well-stocked and self-serve, with a range of premium spirits, wines, soft drinks, tea, and coffee. Dining is available from the high-end buffet, where you can sample Middle Eastern specialties like za’atar flatbreads or enjoy fresh Mediterranean-style salads for something light.
