We stayed at Apartments by Brøchner Hotels at Hotel SP34 from April 29 to May 2, 2026, expecting a comfortable serviced apartment experience in central Copenhagen. On paper, it ticks the right boxes — great location, stylish branding, and the promise of “apartment-style living.” In reality, it falls well short.
Let’s start with the basics. What is marketed as an apartment is, in fact, just a standard hotel room with a small kitchenette. Technically functional, yes — but not something you’d realistically use. Why? Because unless you’re willing to either wash everything yourself or pay an additional 500 DKK cleaning fee, it becomes more of a decorative feature than a practical one.

The bigger issue, however, is the complete lack of service.
During our three-night stay, the room was not cleaned once. Not even basic housekeeping. After requesting fresh towels at reception, they were provided — but no one thought to empty the rubbish bin, clean the bathroom, or refresh the room in any meaningful way. For a property positioning itself as a serviced apartment, this is simply unacceptable.

What makes it more frustrating is the pricing. This is not a budget stay — it’s marketed and priced as a premium concept. Yet the only “service” offered is a complimentary glass of red wine between 5–6pm. Nice touch, but hardly a substitute for actual housekeeping.

There’s also a transparency issue. The hotel states that apartments are cleaned free of charge for stays of four nights or more. We booked via Hotels.com, where this condition was not clearly communicated. That kind of detail matters — especially when it directly impacts the guest experience.
At LocalsInsider, we value honest positioning and consistency between promise and reality. Unfortunately, this stay felt like a case of clever marketing over genuine hospitality.
Apartments by Brøchner Hotels at Hotel SP34 Verdict: An overpriced, greedy hotel relying on “apartment” marketing rather than delivering basic service.
If you’re looking for a true serviced apartment in Copenhagen, Apartments by Brøchner Hotels at Hotel SP34 is not it.
We paid around $915 for a “serviced apartment” with no cleaning at all over our 3-night stay.
Hotels.com did not state the policy of not cleaning on their platform while we were booking. So the hotel is basically hiding this from the customers.
Instead, consider:
- A proper apartment-style stay like Rosenborg Apartments
- Or a full-service hotel such as NH Collection Copenhagen, Copenhagen Admiral Hotel, or Axel Guldsmeden, where at least basic cleaning and service are part of the experience
Great location, but disappointing execution. For the price, you can — and should — expect more.
When we are in Copenhagen, we also go to our favorite places to eat fish and see people – Bistro Centralen for mussels or Victor for breakfast are the best.
