Diversity, personality, and tradition are just a few of the hallmarks of a good Bangkok cocktail bar. But then there are the drinks themselves, which, as the 2026 edition of Asia’s 50 Best Bars list confirmed, are among the best in Asia. Bangkok has more bars in the top 50 than any other city, with an incredible eight making the top 50.
But with so many bars comes the burden of choice. So we’ve scoured the rooftops of Sukhumvit, back alleys of Thong Lo, and abandoned shophouses in Chinatown to bring you what we believe are some of the best bars and mixologists in Bangkok today.
Bar Us

The Best Cocktails in Bangkok?
Bar Us ranks No. 7 on the most recent Asia’s 50 Best Bars list, and for good reason. The drinks here are sublime concoctions rooted in precisely processed ingredients and eye-opening experimentation. The Garlic Sour, for example, is served in a martini glass, but it’s ever so sweet and sour with a root note of garlic, and, inside the glass, a single clove of deliciously pickled garlic — crunchy and sweet to taste. Another standout is the savory Beef Onion cocktail, a clarified carnivorous medley of beef jerky infused with vodka offset against fragrant jalapeños.
The atmosphere at Bar Us is all low lighting and convivial seating, and almost all the seats are wrapped around a large feasting table. Ingredients hang from the walls, while the bar area is a central focus, almost like a stage, leading the eye towards the preparation of each drink.
Bartenders are friendly and explain each cocktail carefully, outlining the process and the flavor, making this a standout for those who like to delve deeper into the details of their drinks.

G.O.D. Bar (Genius On Drugs)

Best For a Unique Atmosphere
This moody little Chinatown bar, created from a pair of abandoned shophouses, eschews almost all the typical speakeasy clichés. Gone are the 1920s interiors and low rust-tinted lights, and so too the jazz and blues. Instead, low light is bolstered by thick neon red, and the tables flicker with candlelight, illuminating graffiti-covered concrete walls, steel beams and columns that converge over the bar to create a cross. Outside there’s a Palad Khik — a Thai fertility symbol shaped like a 4-foot d*ck — its top/head/glans wearing away from all the good-luck rubbing. Meanwhile, on our visits, a soundtrack of atmospheric 1990s trip hop (everything from Massive Attack to Sneaker Pimps) plays alongside a tribal backbeat of cocktail shakers colliding with ice.
The result is extraordinary. Push through the door framed by squares of stained glass, its handle a silver cocktail shaker, and you’ll see smart waiters bearing silver trays and friendly grins, juxtaposed with all that industrial-looking decay. Look up behind the bar, and you’ll spot a second floor where a piano sits for weekend jams of “neo-classical stuff,” according to Niks Anuman, one of G.O.D’s owners.
The bar delivers each drink as uniquely as it does its interiors too, with alcohol-forward concoctions arriving with a food pairing: Uni Martini served with uni (sea urchin) and a hay-smoked olive, Rest In Peach garnished with a gummy bear atop chocolate soil, and a Cheesus made with pecorino distallite, gin, madeira, mozzarella water, and wild honey, served with decadent bites of fried cheese on a rosemary cracker.

Resident’s Only

Best Neighborhood Bar in Bangkok
Wander off Sukhumvit 55 (Thong Lo), into this dimly lit back alley, and you might be forgiven for thinking Resident’s Only doesn’t exist (even Google Maps refuses to acknowledge its existence). Keep walking towards the end, and you’ll finally see a light and another little alley. Keep going, and you’ll get your first glimpse of neon. Slip through the door, and you’ve finally found one of the friendliest little cocktail bars in all of Bangkok: Resident’s Only. The name and the decor — all neon red-soaked brick walls and old-school newspaper menus — intentionally evoke the infamous aesthetics of Hong Kong’s old Kowloon City.
The best cocktail here (if not in Bangkok), and one they tell me brings locals back regularly, is the delicious MAHJONG, a clarified blend of gin, sweet Basil, jasmine, and abutus syrup, finished with an ice cube seared with a Mahjong tile, the recess filled with deep, beautiful red bitters, creating an aesthetically stunning cocktail and one that’s dangerously drinkable (I went through a handful on my second visit). The flavor is difficult to pinpoint, but something here is oddly reminiscent of golden gummy bears: sweet and floral, herbal yet almost candy-like, with a hint of basil.
Resident’s Only has by far the most singular personality of any bar we encountered in Thong Lo: raw and local, the music kept low on weekdays, the air riotous with Thai spoken at almost every other table, and the drinks expertly shaken every time. The bar is playful too, with games like Connect 4 to get lost in as you drink, with the loser “winning” a free shot.

TEP Bar

Best for Thai Spirits (Editor’s Pick)
TEP Bar, another atmospheric Chinatown offering, is one of the best places in Bangkok to understand just how eclectic and interesting Thai spirits can be when they’re treated with the same seriousness as the world’s great bottles. The cocktails here lean heavily into local ingredients and traditional spirits, from herbal liqueurs and rice whisky to Mekong and Phraya rum. The Thong, for example, combines mango, wild honey, dill, lime and gold leaf.
The interiors are atmospheric without feeling contrived: a narrow Chinatown shophouse, dark woods and atmospheric lighting, a compact bar and tables filling all the available space. Early evenings are relatively relaxed, but as the night progresses, TEP Bar becomes considerably more animated, with live Thai music often performed within arm’s reach of the nearest table.

Sato San Rooftop Bar

Best New Rooftop Bar in Bangkok
Bangkok’s rooftop culture is probably the best in the world, with terraces that look across the neon cityscape of Asoke and to the skywalks and BTS lines of Siam, where the sunset is perhaps as important as the drink. Competition is fierce and new bars open all the time. One of Bangkok’s newest rooftop bars, Sato San, which officially opened for New Year’s Eve 2025/26, occupies the 32nd floor of Moxy Bangkok, with views stretching across Ratchaprasong and the thrilling central Bangkok skyline.
The concept is a lively collision of Thai-Issan and Japanese flavors, with cocktails that take the same approach — familiar spirits and techniques given a Thai-Japanese twist. The Kyoto Sato, for example, mixes gin and mezcal with watermelon, pineapple, pink peppercorn and Thai basil, while the Sato Highball brings together Choya shiso, Suntory whisky, chrysanthemum, jasmine and honey.
The atmosphere is deliberately social and convivial rather than hushed or formal. There’s an expansive open-air terrace alongside indoor seating, and DJs take over from Wednesday through Saturday.

Lennon’s

Bangkok’s Best Rooftop Bar for Cocktails (and an Immense Record Collection)
Ascend to the 30th floor of the Rosewood Bangkok, and you’ll find yourself in a large listening room filled with 6,000 vinyl records. Choose one, and they’ll play it, but go through the opposite door and you’ll find what is probably our favorite cocktail bar in the clouds around Pathum Wan, complete with those skyscraper views in every direction.
The drinks are creative and rooted in place with plenty of nods to local Thai cuisine: gin-spiked takes on mango sticky rice and a Fish & Waterme-La Punch (inspired by Pla Hang Tang Mo), with Matusalem Platino Rum, watermelon lacto, citrus, dried fish, yogurt, jasmine green tea, and CO2 served with a skeletal fish biscuit atop the glass. The Thai Milk Ti is a favorite, fusing Rémy Martin, tea, salak, spices, and a beer reduction for a sweet, spicy, and slightly umami take on the classic Thai Milk Tea.
The crowd is a mix of hotel guests and Bangkok locals of all nationalities, and a small crowd there to smoke. Lennon’s is allowed, but you’ll need to ascend the beautiful spiral staircase to the Cigar Lounge to light one up.

Wasteland

Best Sustainable Cocktails in Bangkok
Tucked down an alley off Bangkok’s Sukhumvit 71, Wasteland feels a bit like a working experiment in what a drink can be — with flavors ever-evolving and boundaries always being pushed. Founded by veteran bartenders Kitibordee “Gov” Chortubtim and Dharath “Tot” Hoonchamlong, the bar takes sustainability extremely seriously, going far beyond the usual garnish-and-recycle rhetoric; they use surplus produce, by-products, and foraged ingredients as the starting point for many of their drinks — and serve them in an industrial-chic setting.
The menu is divided into sections: World, Wild and Waste. The first reworks familiar classics, the second explores overlooked local ingredients, and “future foods,” including insects, while the latter turns food waste into genuinely inventive cocktails.
There’s a real R&D lab upstairs, too, where Wasteland tests techniques and flavors before they pour for the crowds downstairs, and its recent summer BROWSE program makes that process part of the experience, with a new experimental menu released each week. An interesting component of the menu is the tasting portions, allowing guests to try signature cocktails before committing to the full-size drink.
Drinks like TROPICKLE show this isn’t just for show, with a perfect candy-esque balance of Rum, Ylang Ylang, Pineapple Skin, Passion Fruit Rind, Crème de Banane, Soda, and Betel Nut.
The result is cerebral, genuinely interesting, without being overtly preachy. You can sit at the bar and drink something delicious, with roots in a discarded peel, an insect, a surplus or rescued ingredient, or some otherwise forgotten part of the food chain, and leave having learned something about how we consume the earth.
