The Best Beaches in Montenegro for Solitude, Swimming, and Sunset DJ Sets

Montenegro has so many beaches that choosing where to go can feel overwhelming. Sandy or pebbled, wild or fully serviced, quiet and secluded or buzzing with life, each one has its own appeal, which is exactly what makes the decision so difficult.

Here are five beaches recommended by Irina Klimenko, a local guide in Montenegro who knows where it is truly worth going.

As the name suggests, this beach owes its nickname to its crystal-clear, emerald-turquoise water. Located on the small island of Sveti Nikola, it is easy to forget where you are and imagine yourself somewhere closer to the Maldives.

Just one kilometer from Budva’s Old Town, the beach is easily reached by water taxi. Wander a little and you will discover secluded coves and hidden corners away from view. Arrive early in the morning, and you will be rewarded with breathtaking photos before the crowds appear.

Kamenovo, an Ideal Beach for Family Time

Best Beaches in Montenegro: Kamenovo - Ideal Beach for Family Time

Kamenovo Beach lies between the popular resorts of Bečići and Pržno and stretches for about 300 meters. It can be reached either from the main road or through a pedestrian tunnel connecting it to neighboring resorts. Yes, there is a road nearby, but it does not detract from the experience.

With its sandy seabed, bright turquoise water, and a very gentle entry into the sea, Kamenovo is particularly well suited for families with children. All essential facilities are in place, including a designated children’s area, lifeguards, and cafés right by the water. It is an easy choice for spending the entire day by the sea.

Buljarica, One of the Longest Beaches in Montenegro

Buljarica - the Longest Beaches in Montenegro

Buljarica is a coastal village and an expansive beach located in the Budva region. Stretching for 2.5 kilometers, it is considered one of the longest beaches in Montenegro.

It is perfect for long walks along the shore and relaxed picnics, especially since there are no settlements directly behind it, only open green space and rolling hills. The atmosphere feels authentic, quiet, and refreshingly untouched.

Jaz, a Beach Known for Nightlife and Music Festivals

Яз — пляж в Черногории с активной ночной жизнью

Jaz can easily be called a historic beach for Montenegro’s music scene. In 2007, The Rolling Stones performed here to a crowd of 40,000 people. Madonna later played Jaz as part of her Sticky & Sweet tour, and since 2014, the beach has become a key destination for electronic music.

Today, Jaz remains Montenegro’s main open-air beach venue. Concert listings regularly feature events here, from electronic music and DJ sets to large-scale festivals. A campsite is located right next to the beach, along with plenty of water sports options.

A small yet inviting pebble beach, Galija is set in a scenic location framed by pine trees. It lies just one kilometer from the iconic island of Sveti Stefan.

Visitors can rent sun loungers and umbrellas, have lunch at the beachfront café, or find quieter spots tucked between rocks and shaded areas. The shore is covered with large pebbles and stones, so water shoes are recommended. Galija is considered a club-style beach with good service and slightly higher prices than nearby alternatives.
