Beyond Ubud, also above the Ayung River, is COMO Shambhala. It’s a five-star sanctuary spreading across 22 acres that offers bespoke wellness programmes. COMO Shambhala Estate’s philosophy is a ‘retreat for change,’ and it offers a wide range of wellness packages, retreats, and facilities to suit all needs. The wellness center is in the heart of the estate and has facilities like an ice bath and an infrared sauna for contrast therapy.


As an add-on, you can include one of the eight wellness programmes, like a full cleanse detox, in your stay. The estate offers signature retreats throughout the year so that stays can be centered around one of these experiences.
The estate is made up of suites and villas. Suites start at $678 a night, while villas begin at $1,116, and all feature private pools. Breakfast is usually included in stays here, and there are two options for lunch and dinner.

The five-star REVĪVŌ Wellness Resort is in South Bali and perched on Nusa Dua’s hills. It’s been welcoming guests since 2018 and receives a near-perfect score on TripAdvisor from travelers. It is regularly featured in some prestigious publications, like Vogue, which said entering the resort feels like a ‘blissful exhale’. It’s a sanctuary for those looking to cleanse their mind, body, and spirit. The resort uses ancient wellness traditions and blends them with modern therapies.

The hotel centers around wellbeing, and even NŪTRIŌ, the on-site restaurant, serves dishes designed for your goals and needs. The team uses organic and locally sourced ingredients. Dinner here might look like this: pincho tempeh satay to start, followed by fresh fish of the day, and finished with passionfruit parfait.

We’re back in Ubud with Viceroy Bali, which sits along the Petanu River. Since opening its doors 20 years ago, Viceroy has grown into a resort with 40 private pool suites and villas. This wellness retreat includes daily spa treatments, like a Balinese massage, a private yoga session, a three-course meal at CasCades, and more.

If you’re a foodie, you’ll be pleased to hear that two restaurants and two bars are on site. The Apéritif Restaurant offers fine dining and was named Indonesia’s Best Restaurant at the World Culinary Awards in 2020.
