My name is David, and I live in Stockholm. I run Blue House Coffee, a small café at Strandvägen 18, 114 51 Stockholm (just a few steps away from the Vasa Museum), where we roast beans from small producers and bake our own cardamom buns every morning. The café only has a few tables inside and some on the street in summer, but it’s exactly what I always wanted — a cozy spot where people can slow down for a few minutes and feel at home.
I opened Blue House Coffee three years ago because I wanted a space that connected people. Every Friday, we host an open art night where local photographers, painters, and writers share their work. It has turned into a small community, and for me, that’s what makes running this café worth it.
Outside the café, there are many places I love in Stockholm that I often recommend to visitors or friends:
- Djurgården Park – perfect for long walks, especially in spring when everything is green.
- Fotografiska Museum – the photography exhibitions are always inspiring.
- Östermalms Saluhall – a classic food hall where you can try Swedish herring or grab pastries.
- Archipelago boat rides from Nybroviken – the best way to see the city’s islands.
- Monteliusvägen – a short walking path with one of the best skyline views of Stockholm.
- Gamla Stan backstreets – less crowded alleys behind the main square are amazing for photos.
- StikkiNikki Ice Cream – my favorite place for a sweet treat, with creative seasonal flavors.
- Rosendals Trädgård – a garden café on Djurgården that feels like you’ve left the city.
- Skinnarviksberget Hill – where locals go with snacks and drinks to watch the sunset.
- ABBA The Museum – fun, colorful, and surprisingly well put together.
Running the café has given me the chance not only to follow a dream but also to share the city I love with others. If you’re in Stockholm, stop by Blue House Coffee for a cappuccino, then spend the rest of the day exploring some of the places that make this city special to me.
