It’s not easy to find the kind of breakfast I want in Italy.
Most mornings here are very simple – an espresso, maybe a pastry, and that’s it. It’s quick, and people move on. But I usually look for something more balanced: eggs, avocado, smoked salmon, spinach, and a fresh juice that’s actually made on the spot, not something from a bottle.
In Milan, I found exactly that. Probably the best breakfast in town!
We had breakfast at Pandenus Tadino, on Via Alessandro Tadino 15. It’s not far from Centrale, and just a short walk from Giardini Indro Montanelli and the Galleria d’Arte Moderna. The location is convenient, but the street itself feels quiet, slightly away from the busy parts of the city.

We went in the morning, and the atmosphere was calm. A few locals were sitting inside, some by the window in the sunlight, having coffee and reading. It didn’t feel busy or rushed. The space is simple – more like a neighborhood bistro than a trendy café. You can sit inside or outside, and it feels easy to stay for a while.
The staff were friendly and attentive without being formal. When we asked about juice, they didn’t offer anything pre-made. They simply said they could squeeze it fresh. We chose carrot, ginger, and apple. It came out fresh, slightly sharp from the ginger, not too sweet, and clearly made on the spot.

The menu is straightforward, but it covers what’s often missing. There’s a proper eggs section—scrambled, fried, omelette, boiled – and you can add extras like avocado, smoked salmon, or bacon. There are also lighter options if you want something smaller, but the focus is on simple combinations that work.
I ordered sunny side up eggs with avocado, spinach, smoked salmon, and toast. This is the kind of breakfast I usually struggle to find in Italy. Everything was fresh, well prepared, and served without unnecessary details. The eggs were cooked properly, the avocado was ripe, and the salmon was good quality.

Martin ordered scrambled eggs, which were soft and not overcooked. Again, simple, but done right.
We also had coffee and the fresh juices. Altogether, it came to around $45 for two people. For Milan, especially for this type of breakfast, that felt very reasonable.
Pandenus is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., every day except Monday, so it works whether you want an early breakfast or something later in the morning.

It’s a simple place, but it has what I usually miss – real breakfast options, fresh vegetables, and a quiet setting where you can take your time.
