Bangkok today is a true gastronomic paradise. Street stalls and high-end gastronomic concepts coexist here, but the Michelin-starred restaurants in Bangkok, which are growing in number every year, deserve special attention.
It’s the perfect destination for a food tour: try the freshest seafood Thailand has to offer and discover new flavors under the guidance of a star chef. The best way to end the day is at one of the rooftop bars with a DJ and a fashionable crowd, enjoying a cocktail and the sunset over the skyscrapers. We have put together a selection of the best places where you are sure to find something to suit your taste!
Sühring (2 Michelin stars) — Northern European seafood cuisine

Address: 10 Yen Akat Soi 3, Chong Nonsi, Yan Nawa
Phone: +66 2 287 1799
Website: restaurantsuhring.com
A cozy restaurant with a Scandinavian atmosphere in a two-story 1970s villa surrounded by a tropical garden. Sühring was opened in Bangkok by twin brothers from Berlin, Matthias and Thomas Sühring. They have reimagined the traditions of modern German cuisine, combining their childhood memories and family recipes with fine dining techniques.
Most of the menu consists of fish and seafood with a northern twist: smoked fish, Baltic herring, light marinades, and warm bread with sea caviar. Key dishes include blue lobster and mussels with pumpkin and bay leaves, and river trout on apple wood chips with a crispy crust and a horseradish aftertaste.
Dishes can be ordered à la carte or as a course: Erlebnis for $120 and Klassiker for around $95. Wine pairing is an additional $150.
Sorn (3 Michelin stars Restaurant) in Bangkok — TOP for traditional Thai cuisine with a new twist

Address: 56 Soi Sukhumvit 26, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110
Phone: +66 99 081 1119
Website: sornfinesouthern.com
Two years ago, Sorn became the first Thai restaurant in Bangkok to be awarded three Michelin stars. Its chef, Supaksorn “Ice” Jongsiri, is self-taught, grew up in his grandmother’s kitchen in southern Thailand, and wanted to revive his family recipes, opening a restaurant in 2018 to do just that.
The concept behind Sorn is exclusively southern Thai cuisine, with 99% of the ingredients sourced from southern provinces. A must-try is the now-viral cult combination of crab and the restaurant’s signature Gems on Crab Stick pasta. And if you want to experience the home-cooked flavors of Thailand, try the dishes made with Phuket lobster.
The restaurant is located in an old two-story mansion, and even the interior has been designed to recreate the atmosphere of a family home, with wooden furniture and warm colors. One tasting set costs about $200, plus wine for another $150 or so. This restaurant is considered one of the most difficult to book in Thailand: reservations open on the 15th of the previous month, strictly by phone. Seats sell out instantly, so if you want to get in, we recommend booking well in advance.
AVANT (one Michelin star) — a theater of gastronomy from the chef himself

Address: 30th floor, Kimpton Maa-Lai, 78 Soi Ton Son, Lumphini, Pathum Wan
Phone: +66 82 466 4962
Website: kimptonmaalaibangkok.com
An elegant and minimalist venue on the 30th floor of the hotel, where everyone feels like they are part of a gastronomic show. This restaurant has only 11 seats at an L-shaped table, from where guests can watch the chef and his team at work against the backdrop of Lumpini Park. Each course is personally presented by Haikal Johari, an experienced chef from Singapore.
The cuisine is French with an Asian accent. The tasting menu consists of 19 exquisite dishes, mainly featuring Japanese seafood. Several miniature appetizers are often served, such as Norwegian langoustines. One course without drinks costs around $115, and it is best to book in advance.
Côte by Mauro Colagreco (2 Michelin stars) — seafood and the atmosphere of the French Riviera

Address: Capella Bangkok, 300/2 Charoen Krung Road, Bang Kho Laem
Phone: +66 2 098 3818
Website: www.cotebkk.com
“A modern interpretation of traditional recipes and the culinary heritage of the French and Italian Rivieras, from Nice to Genoa,” is how the founders of this restaurant describe themselves. The concept was originally conceived by Mauro Colagreco, but in Bangkok, chef Davide Garavaglia is in charge of the kitchen.
Light, sunny, and carefree — that’s the general feeling you get when you visit this place. A simple, bright dining room, panoramic windows, river views, and elegant Riviera-style lunches. Try the Provençal soup, scallops, and mini goat cheese tarts. The tasting menu consists of 7–9 courses and costs around $170. Please note that the restaurant has a dress code — you will not be allowed in wearing shorts or flip-flops.

The Raw Bar in Bangkok — a seafood spot with an open display case (best oysters and fries)

Address: 39 Boulevard, Sukhumvit Soi 39, Phrom Phong
Phone: +66 2 160 0311
FB: www.facebook.com/TheRawBarBangkok
Not a Michelin, but a restaurant worth your attention, especially if you’re like we are at LocalsInsider and into fresh oysters and fries. So, if you’re not into complicated concepts and molecular cuisine, but just want to eat seafood, this is the place for you. It’s the perfect place to enjoy the freshest lobsters with a glass of ice-cold white wine.
The tuna tartare is delicious, there is a seafood set menu, and an open bar with a display case where you can choose your own oysters and shrimp. There are usually more than 10 varieties of oysters to choose from, often offered in sets of 6–12, and you can ask for an assortment. Scallops are served with truffle salt, and crab on ice and white fish ceviche are simply perfect. Oysters are around $4 each, and tartar sets are around $15.
Guilty by Olivier is an art restaurant in the heart of Bangkok with a South American vibe

Address: 155 Rajadamri Road, Pathum Wan, Bangkok (inside the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel)
Phone: +66 2 431 9473
Website: guiltythailand.com
A restaurant that was conceived as a place where every visitor can indulge in pleasure and forget about all diets and restrictions. The concept of Guilty restaurants was born from the ideas of renowned Portuguese chef Olivier da Costa, who created a chain of trendy restaurants in Lisbon and Dubai.
In Thailand, this project was implemented by Orbit Design Studio, an architectural firm famous for its bold interiors. Indeed, the dining room resembles a pop art gallery, and every detail adds to the creative chaos. Chef Axel Javier Mancera has brought his South American roots to the menu and created a truly daring cuisine.

Contemporary interpretations of Latin American and Japanese dishes in the Nikkei style — a cuisine born from the fusion of Peruvian and Japanese culinary traditions. What you need to know before you visit: the restaurant is often full on weekend evenings, so it’s best to book a table in advance. And don’t come here in shorts and flip-flops — smart casual is more appropriate.
Vertigo and Moon Bar — Bangkok’s legendary rooftop bar with good food and creative drinks

Address: 21/100 South Sathon Road, Sathon, Bangkok
Phone: +66 2 679 1200
Website: banyantree.com
This is definitely the place to watch the sunset in Bangkok! The legendary bar is located on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel and is essentially an open-air terrace with a 360-degree panoramic view right on the roof. It is one of the top sky bars in Bangkok we recommend. The views are incredible — of the Chao Phraya River, the skyscrapers of Sathon and Sukhumvit.
The menu features seafood and steaks, signature cocktails, and prosecco. A bottle of wine costs around $50, a cocktail $12–14, and a light meal around $20. A tip from Local Insiders: book a table in advance via the website, especially for sunset (6–7 p.m.). And to catch the most vivid colors over the city, arrive at least half an hour before sunset. And yes, no flip-flops or shorts here either.
